Experienced Criminal Lawyers Committed to Justice and Solid Results
It’s a traumatizing thing to be arrested by the police on criminal charges. Every step of the process, from the arrest, to being put in the back of a police car or a jail cell, to the trial itself, can be confusing and frightening. It can make you feel isolated, like there’s no one who can understand or help.
The good news is, you’re not alone. Grafe & Batchelor Attorneys at Law are among the most respected criminal law firms in Missouri. We’ve served clients from all across the state, including Jefferson County, Washington County, St. Francois County, and many other counties and cities in MO.
Our law firm was founded and is run by Travis W.T. Grafe and Shane Batchelor. Criminal law and defense is our main focus and our driving passion because we have seen first-hand the tremendous good that it’s capable of doing in the lives of our clients and their families. There’s no feeling more satisfying than defending someone with a criminal charge and getting a positive outcome.
With over 30 years of combined experience in criminal law, we have the experience required to try and bring home a favorable verdict, whether that is a reduced sentence, a dismissed case, or a finding of not guilty. We’ve fought for many clients over our two decades of practice, and we can do the same for you.
Who Are We?
Travis W.T. Grafe is an accomplished former Assistant Public Defender from the Tulsa County Public Defender’s Office. That office has a reputation for its skilled litigators and trial attorneys. Mr. Grafe’s areas of practice include:
- Misdemeanor and felony trials
- “Special” motion hearings
- Plea deals with prosecutors
The overwhelming majority of our law firm’s success as a criminal law practice comes from Mr. Grafe’s experience in these three fields. That’s why, when you’re in a difficult legal situation that involves criminal charges, Mr. Grafe is who you want in your corner defending you in the Jefferson County courts or other surrounding county courts.
Shane Batchelor is a born-and-raised native Missourian, a former prosecutor for Jefferson County, MO, and completed the 24 Hour Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Student Certification Course, which is the same training police officers receive from the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the detection of suspected impaired drivers. He diligently fights DWIs in the St. Louis area. This means he’s qualified to represent and defend you in a DWI case.
His skill is by no means limited to DWI, however. It extends to related areas like criminal defense, traffic violations, and even estate planning. He’s the firm’s go-to lawyer for all cases related to DWI, traffic violations and speeding tickets, and setting up a legacy in the form of wills and trusts. He has extensive experience in defending all of these kinds of cases in the courtroom.
As a former prosecutor, Mr. Batchelor is able to utilize all the knowledge and experience acquired during that period and apply them to his client’s defense. He understands how the prosecution thinks and plans, and he can use that knowledge during a case or a trial.
Those skills, along with his existing relationship with the District Attorney’s office, means that he can be a skillful and helpful asset to negotiate deals when possible or necessary.
